More rain arrives Wednesday, then we’ll be drier
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Rain has ended, but runoff into the rivers means water levels will be slow to subside.
Elevated Avalanche Risk
The avalanche risk is elevated over the mountains. The risk is low on the Grand Mesa, but it’s higher in the West Elk Mountains around Marble. It’s also higher in the southern San Juans around Silverton. The highest risk is about a level 3 out of 5.
Tuesday’s Forecast
Tuesday will start with some leftover clouds, then we’ll become sunny to mostly sunny. We’ll warm from mid-30s at 7 AM to upper 40s and lower 50s at noon, then to low-to-mid 50s at 4 PM. High temperatures in the afternoon will be near 53 degrees around Grand Junction, 51 degrees around Montrose, 52 degrees around Delta, 53 degrees around Cortez, and 56 degrees around Moab. Low temperatures in the morning will be near 37 degrees around Grand Junction, 33 degrees around Montrose, 34 degrees around Delta, 29 degrees around Cortez, and 39 degrees around Moab.
Our Next Rain Maker
More rain is on the way. It is on track to arrive on Wednesday afternoon. Clouds will increase quickly on Wednesday morning, then we’ll get a quick round of rain between about 2 PM and 8 PM before it clears and moves on. Snow can fall over the Grand Mesa, the West Elk Mountains, the Sawatch Mountains, and the northern San Juans. This is likely to slip just north of the areas current flooding in Southwest Colorado. This is also not likely to be as heavy or as long-lasting as the previous two rounds of rain have been. That means the flood threat is nowhere nearly as high.
