Montrose City Council could appoint new at-large member tonight

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO) - The Montrose City Council could have a new member after its meeting tonight.

The city has been working to fill the empty at-large seat. Ten applicants for the position were narrowed down to three finalists: John Brown, Danielle Godt and Cindee Williams.

Council interviewed finalists this morning

Members of the city council interviewed the three finalists at a work session this morning. One is expected to be appointed to the position at this evening’s council meeting.

City aims for unanimous decision

The city said the goal is to reach a unanimous decision.

“We believe that we can find common ground here. And the individuals, there are three strong individuals. So it may be tough, but we’re going to do our best to try and find consensus,” Montrose Mayor Michael Badagliacco said.

Swearing-in and special election

Once someone is selected, that person will be sworn in and seated tonight.

If the council can’t come to a decision, the process will go to a special election.
