Olathe Football Coach named Broncos Tackle Football Coach of the Week
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - After not fielding a varsity team in 2023, the Olathe Pirates are 3-0 and ranked in the top five for their class in the state.
Now the man at the helm of the Pirates program is getting recognition. Head coach Tyler Vincent was named the Denver Broncos Tackle Football Coach of the Week.
This is the third year in a row Vincent has gotten the Pirates to a record of 2-0 or better to start the season. The reason it wasn’t four years in a row is that Olathe didn’t play a varsity season in 2023.
After the fast start to the season, the Pirates are up to fourth in the latest rankings for Class 1A. Olathe will look to make it 4-0 heading into its next test, hosting the Moffat County Bulldogs this weekend in its first league game of the year.
Getting that first league win of the year would help the Pirates in their pursuit of something they haven’t done since “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele was the top song on the charts, winning a regular season title. The last time an Olathe football team did so was 2011, according to MaxPreps.
The year before that, in 2010, the Pirates were state champions, defeating Brush 14-13 in the title game.
Coach Vincent will be recognized in the Front Range by the Broncos at their home opener this Sunday.
