DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Storms wreaked havoc in parts of the Denver metro Saturday afternoon, flooding roadways, stranding drivers -- and even requiring a snowplow!

Heavy rain and as much as 3 feet of hail clogged streets in Douglas and Arapahoe counties, resulting in nearly a dozen vehicle rescues.

South Metro Fire Rescue said crews also responded to two separate water rescues at Chatfield State Park after four adults and a dog on paddleboards found themselves in a dicey spot when winds picked up.

“When severe weather moves into the area, stay weather-aware and seek shelter when lightning or high winds are present. Never drive through a flooded intersection or roadway. Water can be deeper and moving faster than it appears, and it only takes a small amount of moving water to create a dangerous situation,” South Metro Fire Rescue said.
