“This was not on my bingo card”: Black bear relocated after wandering through Grand Junction neighborhoods
Colorado Parks and Wildlife safely tranquilized the bear and relocated it to a more suitable habitat
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Some Grand Junction residents woke up to a bear-y unexpected visitor Saturday morning.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said deputies began receiving calls around 5 a.m. about a black bear roaming through residential neighborhoods.
The bear was spotted in multiple backyards in areas just south of Interstate 70 East. A KKCO viewer sent in a video of the bear captured on her Ring doorbell camera, which you can watch above.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers located and tranquilized the animal before safely relocating it to more suitable habitat on the Grand Mesa.
MCSO shared photos of the wandering bear, with Public Information Officer Molly Casey joking, “All I can say is this was not on my bingo card for Saturday.”
