Red Flag Warnings
Red Flag Warnings are in effect for most of Western Colorado and Eastern Utah until 9 PM this evening due to the high wildfire danger caused by dry fuels, low humidity, and wind gusts up to 45-55 mph. Red Flag Warnings will go into effect again Sunday morning at 10 AM and last until 10 PM that evening due to those similar weather conditions once again. The winds will calm down during the overnight tonight but tomorrow morning around 10 AM, the winds will pick up with gusts in the 30-40 mph range for most areas with some spots reaching the 40-50 mph range, mainly for the higher elevations.
Fire Weather Watch
The high wildfire danger continues on Monday and Tuesday as well. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from 10 AM Monday to 10 PM Tuesday for most of Western Colorado and Eastern Utah. The watch is typically posted ahead of a Red Flag Warning so that will likely be upgraded to Red Flag Warning status in the near future. Wind gusts Monday and especially Tuesday could be stronger with gusts up to the 50-60+ mph range.
No Burn Advisory
Because of the high wildfire danger, Mesa County Public Health issued a No Burn Advisory that continues through Tuesday, June 9 at 9 PM. Burning of any kind is not allowed between now and then.
Temperatures the Next Few Days
High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to mid 90s through Tuesday, then a slight drop to the upper 80s to low 90s through the rest of the week. Morning lows will mainly be in the 40s and 50s.
