Woman gives birth to her third child without knowing she was pregnant
CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT/Gray News) - A Virginia woman thought she was just having another day at work, but it turned into a miracle delivery.
Becca Johnson said she ended up giving birth to her third child, not knowing she was pregnant.
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Johnson said she woke up in pain.
“So we go to the ER, and they check me in. I can’t sit at this point. My back is killing me. I’m telling them it’s my back, but it’s now radiating to my front. They’re thinking kidney stones or cysts,” she said.
At the hospital, she told the nurse she felt she needed to go to the bathroom.
But what happened next left everyone stunned.
“I hurry over and I go, ’Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry if this is constipation. I feel like such a horrible person,’” she said.
“She [the nurse] looks over and she goes, ‘That’s a head,’” the mom said.
In just minutes, she was holding her third baby girl, Carlee Evangeline. She weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces and was 19 inches long.
Johnson said she felt fine the entire nine months and never suspected anything, especially not a full-term baby.
Johnson and her husband had struggled through years of fertility treatments since getting married in 2011.
In 2016, they welcomed their first child. But doctors warned Johnson she’d likely never conceive again, without intervention.
Then, to their surprise, a second daughter was born in August 2024.
And now the couple has a trio of babies, with Johnson calling their latest addition a miracle.
“Obviously, never give up hope and prayer. God steps into the storm, whether you realize it or not. He didn’t say there wasn’t going to be a storm, but he said he would stand beside you in it and don’t give up because clearly your body will reset,” she said.
For the Johnsons, baby Carlee is a reminder that the greatest gifts can arrive when we least expect them.
