GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) won 4 out of 10 awards from a prominent transportation organization.

The Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) handed out awards at its annual award recognitions luncheon last week.

CDOT was one of the organizations to receive the following awards:

  • Colorado Employer of the Year
  • Colorado Person of the Year
  • Colorado Innovative Transportation Solution
  • Colorado Innovative Transportation Solution

The awards were given in recognition of specific projects and workers with CDOT, including the 4th award for the emergency repairs made to the US 50 Blue Mesa Reservoir bridges that happened last year.

Officials say that these awards reflect the work CDOT does every day.

Shoshana Lew, the CDOT Executive Director said, “Both the Centerra-Loveland Mobility Hub and the US 50 emergency bridge repair are examples of innovation, partnership and projects that deliver tangible and needed results for Colorado communities.”

In spring 2024, CDOT officials identified problems with the Middle and Lake Fork bridges, with a crack found in a steel girder during the inspection.

The work to repair the Middle bridge began in May and was completed on October 16, 2024, with the Lake Fork bridge being completed on December 6th, 2024.
