GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - After some soul-searching over the past few years, Colorado Mesa University is making a complete change from its old River and Mesa logo to its athletics interlocking letter logo. (That’s the one with ‘CMU’)

This has been a change over time, and you can expect to see the interlocking logo as the primary logo for anything CMU-related. According to university officials, all these changes are to make it easier for the community.

“I think our students, alumni, parents, and community members are used to seeing our interlocking mark through our athletic teams, and we want to bring that mark into the main brand. And so we will be moving away from some marks and logos that people are used to seeing and elevating that interlocking mark with our main institutional brand,” said Katlin Birdsall, director of marketing and communications at Colorado Mesa University.

Moving forward, CMU is looking to expand its brand and marketing by using more color palettes in its designs and modernizing its typography.
