GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - In a new development, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the nature of the human remains found at a home on Pinyon Avenue earlier this week.

Investigators confirmed that the remains are a human head and a set of human hands. Police stated that they do not have any answers as to the identity of the remains, cause of death, or any other information. The sheriff’s office said that answers will come as further testing of the remains commences, but also stated that the tests take a “significant amount of time.”

The sheriff’s office said that it plans to perform a thorough and detailed investigation in order to identify the remains. The property was sold to a new party recently, and the remains were found as they were cleaning the building post-sale.

The nature and type of the remains was unconfirmed by investigators until Thursday morning.
